Betta Tail Shapes


Bettas have been selectively bred and to create several distinctly different tail shapes.

Half-moon:The tail fin forms a semi-circle that is approximately 180 degrees
Double tail:The tail fin is split into two and the dorsal fin is elongated
Crowntail:Frilled, extended bristled rays
Veiltail:The tail is asymmetrical, with only two rays
Fantail:Rounded delta tail
Delta tail:Sharp edges and has a tail span less than half-moon
Short finned fighting style:Also called "plakat"
