Betta Fish Gender

In most human societies, it's the usually the female who is considered to be beautiful and ornate. In the animal kingdom, however, the opposite is often true. Bettas are no exception to this: the male betta fish has long, flowing fins and brighter, more eye-catching colors. The female betta fish is smaller with shorter fins. Originally, female betta fish were not very colorful at all, but today, due to their popularity, female betta fish are bred to have colors that can rival their male counterparts. I used to have goldfish and could never figure out what sex they were! With bettas it's easy!
