Betta Life Span

The average lifespan of a betta fish is about three years. Under ideal, laboratory conditions, they might live up to five years, but that would be about the maximum.

The bettas you see in stores are already adults and likely to be six months to a year old. Those that have been bred from good stock and are in good health when you buy them will probably have the longest life. You can increase the chances of your betta having a long life by keeping him in top condition providing a good environment, healthy diet, and minimal stress.
